About the Portfolio

The Academic Division has a critical role in enabling and supporting learning and teaching success. The purpose of the Academic System will be to achieve transformative educational outcomes for students and communities​, ensure that all courses are mission-aligned, design and performance optimized.

Seven critical elements will serve specific purposes in the System and include Courses, Capacity, Capability, Time, Governance, Management, and Technology and processes. The system will deliver mission aligned educational content, allowing us to accelerate the transition we need to make in Tasmania.

About the Opportunity

The University of Tasmania is seeking a Director of Curriculum Design to lead the strategic development and implementation of its curriculum. This role ensures alignment with the Academic System to deliver transformative student experiences. The Director will oversee curriculum structure, course design, and compliance, embedding universal design principles for accessibility and flexibility. This position also involves developing production-house capabilities for flagship courses, integrating compliance and accreditation, and overseeing workforce planning to align teaching capacity with strategic course offerings. You will lead transformative efforts, navigate complex organisational dynamics, and adapt to changing circumstances with optimism. Core capabilities include systems thinking, strategy implementation, well-managed delivery and performance, innovation management, student focus, and holistic decision-making. The role requires extensive experience in curriculum design, expertise in universal design principles, a strong background in academic quality assurance, proven leadership in large-scale curriculum projects, and high-level strategic and operational workforce planning skills.
