About the opportunity

Our Library and Cultural Collections team operates as a transformative space where diverse knowledge systems intersect with critical approaches to information access and creation. Learning and Research Librarians adopt inclusive approaches to learning and research support, building learning resources and providing services that respect diverse cultures and suit a range of scholarship levels and requirements. Client focus informs the design and delivery of information and services, with partnerships and collaborations crucial to this, to meet students, staff and researchers when and where they need to enhance their information literacy capabilities for successful outcomes in their studies and research.

The role supports a wide array of disciplines taught at the University, spanning scholarship levels from pre-degree to senior researcher. While the focus will generally remain broad, there may be instances where it is necessary or feasible to concentrate on a select few disciplines, or to specifically cater to coursework students or researchers. Developing additional expertise will be expected for any chosen specialisation.

What you’ll do:

  • Develop and deliver integrated, strategy-aligned and curricula-aligned information literacy initiatives and resources which scaffold development of students’ critical thinking skills.
  • Guide effective use specialised literature sources throughout the research lifecycle, to underpin research excellence.
  • Develop and advocate open scholarship initiatives which ensure equitable access to information.
  • Provide specialised support to a diverse university community, ensuring that the community-specific needs are considered, respected, and included in all Learning and Research services.
  • Engage effectively with the community through responses to their information enquiries and our collaboration with schools

What we’re looking for:

  • Experience with scholarly sources and publishing practices across a wide range of disciplines and ability to explain and recommend the relevance of these for different levels of scholarship.
  • Demonstrated ability to create engaging, respectful and accessible learning experiences for student and research success informed by relevant pedagogy, standards and frameworks.
  • Understanding of ‘user experience’ principles, and skills to apply these to ensure programs and initiatives evolve to meet changing client needs.
  • Demonstrated adaptability in using emerging technologies applicable across business practices and for service delivery.
  • Academic library experience.

Salary details

Appointment to this role will be at HEO 6 and will have a total remuneration package of up to $ 116,872 comprising base salary within the range of $ 92,120 to $ 99, 891plus 17% superannuation.
