About the opportunity

The Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Medical Education role will have a teaching intensive role in medical education for the Tasmanian Medicine Program (BMedScMD), working with students at our Launceston sites.  Work with a team of academic staff to deliver medical education with a focus on alignment with the Tasmanian School of Medicine and the University’s goals of making significant socially accountable contributions to the health and wellbeing of the Tasmanian community.

What you’ll do:

  • Make a strong contribution to the University in achieving its strategic objectives and fulfilling its operational responsibilities.
  • Undertake scholarly coursework teaching of an exemplary quality. 
  • Increasingly provide academic leadership, particularly in fostering outstanding learning and teaching.
  • Build and maintain effective connections internally, and with local, national, and professional communities­.

­What we’re looking for:

  • Completion of recognised primary medical or other relevant healthcare qualification, and evidence of current registration (or eligibility for registration) with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Experience and demonstrated achievement in university and/or postgraduate teaching and learning.
  • A record of contributing effectively to building and maintaining effective and productive links locally, nationally with the discipline, profession, industry and wider community.
  • Clinical or professional experience relevant to the position.
  • Current Working with Vulnerable People registration.

For appointment to Level C, candidates will also be required to demonstrate:

  • PhD or Fellowship of a Specialist Medical College including current registration (or eligibility for registration) as a specialist medical practitioner with AHPRA.
  • Experience and demonstrated achievement in university-level learning and teaching, including the ability to develop scholarly and innovative approaches to education in healthcare settings.

Salary details

Appointment to this role will be at Academic Level B or Academic Level C and will have a total remuneration package of $134,276 up to $184,076 pro rata, comprising base salary within the range of $114,766 to $157,330 pro rata plus 17% superannuation.
