About the opportunity

The Senior Lecturer in Therapeutics is a teaching intensive position which will develop and deliver learning and teaching encompassing pharmacotherapeutics across several programs at the University of Tasmania. The successful candidate will collaborate with academics from the School of Pharmacy and Pharmacology, Rural Clinical School, and the Hobart Clinical School who deliver pharmacotherapeutics and make active contributions including interprofessional learning.

Our teaching is a mixture of face to face and multi-campus synchronous learning, delivering content in Hobart, Launceston, and the Cradle Coast. This position will be based both at our brand-new campus at Inveresk in Launceston, with excellent new facilities to support learning and teaching and research and at the Launceston Clinical School located at the Launceston General Hospital.

What you’ll do:

  • Contribute to academic leadership by making a strong and sustained contribution to the University in achieving its strategic objectives and fulfilling its operational responsibilities.
  • Provide high-quality contemporary online and face-to-face pharmacotherapeutics teaching in undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
  • Undertake scholarly undergraduate (and if relevant postgraduate) coursework teaching of an exemplary quality.
  • Contribute to research in the field of therapeutics aligned with college research themes.
  • Undertake high-quality research of national and increasingly of international standing, secure external competitive and other funding, publish research findings and successfully supervise research higher degree students to completion, to meet and regularly exceed the University’s research performance expectations for Level C.
  • Increasingly provide academic leadership, particularly in fostering outstanding research and/or learning and teaching.

­What we’re looking for:

  • Clinical practice professional experience, particularly in complex therapeutics’ scenarios.
  • Clinical expertise with currency in therapeutics with the ability to contribute to interdisciplinary clinical research in the field of therapeutics.
  • Experience and demonstrated achievement in university-level learning and teaching.
  • A strong record in, and continuing commitment to, research that has achieved national and preferably international recognition and made notable contributions to the field, demonstrated by a record of high-quality publications, presentations at conferences and success in securing external competitive and other funding.
  • A record of good contributions to successful research higher degree supervision and completions.
  • A record of contributing effectively to building and maintaining effective and productive links locally and nationally with the discipline, profession, industry (where relevant) and wider community.

Qualifications and Licences:

  • A PhD or equivalent relevant qualification (such as a clinical Fellowship) or demonstration of extraordinary professional competences, clinical skills and research experience.
  • Registered as a Pharmacist with the Pharmacy Board of Australia or Medical Practitioner with current registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
  • Current Working with Vulnerable People registration (or to be obtained)
  • Current ‘C’ class driver’s licence or manual vehicle licence

Salary details

Appointment to this role will be at Academic Level C and will have a total remuneration package of up to $178,024 comprising base salary within the range of $133,981 to $152,157 plus 17% superannuation.
