About the opportunity:

The Campus Accommodation Operations Officer is a key member of a high-performing customer service and administrative team, dedicated to supporting a safe and thriving student residential community at the Cradle Coast Campus. The role focuses on managing accommodation processes, including enquiries, applications, offers, and all aspects of resident arrivals and departures, while coordinating cleaning and maintenance services. Working closely with internal and external stakeholders, the Officer ensures a student-centric approach aligned with the University’s strategic goals.

In addition to core operational responsibilities, the position supports compliance and administration for programs such as the National Rental Affordability Scheme (NRAS) and Purpose-Built Campus accommodation (PBSA) agreements. Guided by the principles of being resident-focused, collaborative, innovative, and sustainable, the Officer contributes to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance the resident experience and help create vibrant, uniquely Tasmanian communities where students can flourish. Some weekend work and availability to work flexible hours is required.

What you’ll do:

  • Respond to enquiries and provide advice on matters related to accommodation (either face to face, over the phone or via email) or guidance on servicing the needs of residents.
  • Provide exceptional service and participate in the marketing and promotion of Accommodation activities and services, including Open Days, orientation days and information sessions.
  • Process student residential applications and accommodation offers, Australian Maritime College industry bookings and conference and casual bookings, catering requests and undertake room inspections in accordance with Campus Accommodation policy and procedures.
  • Provide administrative assistance with the gathering, recording, and reporting of NRAS tenant income eligibility and other information required to meet the reporting requirements of the NRAS scheme.
  • The Accommodation Operations Officer will share on-call duties outside of business hours, and cover leave as required. 

What we’re looking for:

  • Demonstrated organisational skills, including the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines both as an individual and as a member of a team.
  • Proven ability to work autonomously within established guidelines, exercising discretion, sound judgement, and impartiality.
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, with a strong commitment to delivering excellent customer service.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and improvement, with flexibility to adapt to changing work methods and environments.
  • Competence in using computerised administrative systems, including word processing (Microsoft Word), spreadsheets (Microsoft Excel), databases, email, and internet tools.

Salary details

Appointment to this role will be at HEO 5 and will have a total remuneration package of up to $105,665 comprising base salary within the range of $80,869 to $90,312 plus 17% superannuation.
