About the opportunity

The Peter Underwood Centre for Educational Attainment is a partnership between the University of Tasmania and the Tasmanian Government, linked to the Office of the Governor, and focused on improving education outcomes and transitions across the state. This role leads a pilot project funded by the Aram and Lailani Foundation to design, implement, and evaluate a community-led program in a regional Tasmanian community using a co-design approach with children, families, schools, and local stakeholders to create learning opportunities aligned with local priorities and career pathways. Working within a small community-based team, the Project Lead will build partnerships across community, industry, and education, adapt existing University initiatives such as the Children’s University and Study and Jobs Hubs, and collaborate closely with the Senior Project Manager, Deputy Director (Aspiration and Attainment), and Centre colleagues to deliver project outcomes within a fixed timeframe.

What you’ll do:

• Delivery of agreed project milestones and outputs in alignment with funder requirements and within project timeframe.
• Effective coordination and implementation of activities at the project site, including engagement with the project research team and Children’s University to ensure structures are established to support ongoing evaluation and data collection.
• Timely and efficient delivery of research outputs and program administration, including participant recruitment and stakeholder engagement.
• Development and maintenance of project documentation to support research integrity, program delivery, and reporting, applying sound project management practices.
• Successful implementation of community-based initiatives and events, including preparation and delivery of presentations to internal and external stakeholders.

­What we’re looking for:

• A relevant tertiary qualification in social sciences, health, education, project management, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
• High-level communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders, translate complex information for different audiences, and build strong, collaborative working relationships.
• Proven success in coordinating research projects and/or community-based programs, with the ability to exercise initiative and sound judgement.
• Well-developed organisational and project management skills, including the ability to plan, prioritise, and manage competing demands in a dynamic environment.
• Strong written communication skills, including experience preparing reports, briefing materials, and knowledge translation for a range of audiences.
• Current Working with Vulnerable People Registration.
• Current driver’s license. and ability/willingness to travel and work in the community.

Salary details

Appointment to this role will be at HEO 6 and will have a total remuneration package of up to $116,872 comprising base salary within the range of $92,120 to $99,891 pro rata plus 17% superannuation.
