James Cook University is looking for an In-Country Representative (Thailand, Laos & Cambodia), based in Thailand.
This is a 24 months , Contract for Service position (Service Agreement)
The In-Country Representative (Thailand, Laos & Cambodia) responsible for driving student recruitment and activities across these countries. This role strengthens JCU’s institutional presence, increases student enrolments, and enhances brand visibility for both the Australia and Singapore campuses.
The representative will work closely with Regional Manager, Indochina to implement strategies aligned with JCU’s internationalization objectives. This is a home-based position located in Thailand, with frequent travel to Laos and Cambodia as well as domestic travel within Thailand.
Key Responsibilities
Support recruitment and yield activities for undergraduate, postgraduate, and other programs for international students.
Serve as the primary liaison for prospective students, parents, agents and partners in Thailand, Laos, and Cambodia.
Provide timely responses to enquiries and guide students through the application and conversion pipeline.
Coordinate and participate in recruitment events, education fairs, and digital outreach campaigns.
Provide regular updates on market trends, competitor activities, policy changes, and opportunities.
Monitor education developments in Thailand, Laos, and Cambodia that may impact recruitment.
Represent JCU at regional fairs, exhibitions, and partnership meetings.
Support marketing and promotional activities to enhance JCU’s visibility.
Ensure accurate and updated representation of JCU’s programs, pathways, and branding.
Work with marketing/branding teams to localise content where appropriate.
Regional engagement includes traveling across Thailand, Laos, and Cambodia to visit agents and partners.
Deliver presentations, counselling sessions, and outreach activities
Maintain strong relationships with agents to drive application quality and enrolments.
Provide Market Research & Partnership support by collecting and analysing market intelligence to support tactical and strategic planning.
Assist in implementing partnership agreements and monitoring performance.
Advise the Regional Manager, Indochina on issues affecting JCU’s operations in the region.
Manage fair registrations, event logistics, travel arrangements, and budget tracking.
Maintain and update agents' databases, enquiry logs, and activity reports.
Prepare market reports and updates regularly.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
Strong command of English; fluency in Thai is essential. Knowledge of Lao or Khmer is an advantage.
Based in Thailand, with strong understanding of the Thai education system; familiarity with Laos and Cambodia markets preferred.
Experience in international recruitment, partnerships, or education marketing.
Strong communication, presentation, and relationship-management skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office
Ability to work independently and manage home-based responsibilities.
Willingness to travel frequently within Thailand and to Laos and Cambodia (including evenings and weekends).
Experience in Australian/Singapore or international higher education institutions preferred
Contract for Service position , service agreement for 2 years.
