We are looking for a Legal Executive/ Legal Secretary (at the rank of Secretary I/II) to join the General Services of the Registry.

 

The Role

Reporting to the In-House Legal Counsel, the appointee will provide secretarial and administrative support and assistance, including word processing in English and Chinese; simple correspondence/document drafting; simple translation; IT support; information and data management; internal and external liaison; reimbursement/ invoice processing, and publication subscription.  The appointee will also support the In-House Legal Counsel in legal research through books, internet and other legal database and materials, and perform other duties as assigned.  The appointee may be required to work outside normal office hours occasionally.

 

Qualifications and Qualities                                                                                                                   

  • A Diploma or above in Legal Studies, Secretarial Studies or related disciplines, with basic legal knowledge and research skills;
  • Preferably with 1-3 years of experience in a reputable law firm/ in-house legal department;
  • A good command of both spoken and written English and Chinese (including Cantonese and Putonghua);
  • Proficiency in English and Chinese word processing and PC applications (e.g. Word, Excel, Power Point, Windows, internet and email);
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills;
  • Self-motivated, pleasant personality, able to work under pressure, willing to learn and a good team player;
  • Applicants with less experience may be considered as Legal Secretary.

 

What We Offer

The appointment will be made on fixed-term full-time contract for 2 years, to commence as soon as possible with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance.  A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, together with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme at 10% of basic salary.  Other benefits include annual leave and medical benefits.
