Applications are invited for appointment as Research Assistant II in the Department of Family Medicine and Primary Care, School of Clinical Medicine (Ref.: 531691) to support an innovative project in medical education. (To commence as soon as possible for one year, with the possibility of renewal subject to funding availability and satisfactory performance)

This role is ideal for candidates who are eager to learn, adaptable, and possess strong critical thinking, research, organizational, and communication skills. While prior experience in medical education is not required, the successful candidate should have the ability to adapt swiftly to work demands, work independently with minimal supervision, demonstrate a strong commitment to producing high-quality work, and contribute positively while managing tight deadlines. 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Literature Review & Research: conduct a comprehensive review of existing research literature on best practices in medical education and ethical issues in healthcare.
  • Content Development: provide support in designing curriculums, crafting scripts for educational modules, creating engaging slide presentations, developing assignment rubrics, and preparing detailed instructions for educational activities.
  • Student Engagement & Data Collection: develop and administer surveys/questionnaires, analyze results, coordinate student assessments.
  • Administrative & IT Support: facilitate the coordination of logistics for seminars and practicum sessions in collaboration with colleagues, resolve challenges in both virtual and in-person teaching sessions, and contribute to other departmental research and activities as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills in English with fluency in Cantonese.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Strong research skills, including literature review, data collection, and analysis.
  • Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new information and concepts.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and digital tools like Canva.
  • Basic IT troubleshooting skills and a willingness to learn new tools.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in research, education, healthcare, or related areas.
  • Familiarity with qualitative and quantitative data analysis.
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulations and best practices.
  • Experience with survey and statistical tools such as SPSS, Qualtrics, or similar platforms.
