Assistant Manager (Mainland Affairs) (at the rank of Executive Officer) in the Faculty of Engineering (Ref.: 531700) (to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis, with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary, with the possibility of renewal)

Applicants should possess a recognised Bachelor’s degree, with at least 3 years’ solid work experience, preferably in tertiary institutions or mainland China. The ideal candidates should have a good understanding of the context of mainland China (educational, political and business practices). Responsibilities include developing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders in the mainland China, monitoring education and related developments within this context, and providing support to the Faculty’s management in project management and research collaboration in the region. They should have an excellent command of both written and spoken English and Chinese, with fluency in Putonghua. They should also have strong interpersonal, organisational, problem-solving and communication skills; the ability to work independently and under pressure to meet tight deadlines; knowledge and interest in research and technology; and be a good team player with multitasking abilities and attention to details.

The appointee will directly support the Faculty Secretary and the Associate Dean (Mainland Affairs) and is expected to collaborate with other university and faculty operations. He/She may be required to organize events/workshops, work outside normal office hours, and travel to cities in mainland China. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend a written test and an interview.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.
