Post-doctoral Fellow/Senior Research Assistant in the Faculty of Dentistry (Ref.: 531844)

We now invite applications for Post-doctoral Fellow/Senior Research Assistant to join Professor Junwen Wang’s team on teaching and research. We will deliver a common core course from Fall 2025 to all HKU undergraduate students and we are doing groundbreaking research in the field of artificial intelligence, bioinformatics and precision dentistry.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Asist in teaching the newly approved HKU common core course entitled “AI and the Bio-Revolution”;
  • Prepare course materials under the guidance of course coordinator, Professor Wang, and other teaching professors;
  • Run tutorials to undergraduate students with multiple sessions per week;
  • Assist in the design, implementation, and analysis of research projects focused on artificial intelligence, bioinformatics, precision dentistry/medicine and drug discovery;
  • Develop and maintain software tools, database and web applications;
  • Conduct literature reviews and summarize findings related to AI and large language models and their applications to above mentioned fields;
  • Prepare research reports, presentations, and manuscripts for publication; and
  • Collaborate with faculty, researchers, and other team members on various projects.

Requirements

  • A good PhD degree, preferably in data science, biomedical sciences, or a related discipline;
  • Experience in undergraduate teaching in English;
  • Experience in artificial intelligence, preferably in large language models; application of AI to biomedical and dental sciences; and AI for drug discovery (small molecule, peptide and antibody), is preferred;
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; and
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

What We Offer

The appointment will commence as soon as possible on a one-year temporary basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability.
