Applications are invited for appointment as Lecturer in the Medical Ethics and Humanities Unit / Department of Family Medicine and Primary Care, School of Clinical Medicine (Ref.: 531848), to commence as soon as possible on a three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal.

Applicants should possess a medical degree registrable with the Medical Council of Hong Kong, and preferably a higher qualification in general practice/family medicine with a minimum of 3 years of post-qualification experience in family medicine.  A Master’s degree and/or a doctoral degree in humanities, bioethics or social sciences is preferred but not essential.  A proven track record of excellence in teaching and student learning and experience in curriculum design will be an asset.  Preference will be given to those with interest and experience in teaching clinical medicine as well as medical humanities and related areas such as cultural issues, professionalism, and doctors’ health.

The appointee will be responsible for co-teaching a Common Core Curriculum course on health and wellbeing.  He/she will also teach undergraduate medical students in the MBBS Family Medicine curriculum as well as in the MBBS Medical Humanities curriculum and contribute to the coordination and development of both curricula.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary.
