Part-time Lecturer (several posts) in Cantonese Stream in the Chinese Language Centre of the School of Chinese (Ref.: 532042)

The Chinese Language Centre has a solid reputation of excellence in language teaching and offers a wide variety of Cantonese and Putonghua courses for learners from diverse academic, professional and social backgrounds.

Duties and Responsibilities

The appointee will be required to:

  1. take up substantial teaching responsibilities for courses related to Chinese language education in the Cantonese Steam;
  2. develop course curriculum, teaching and assessment materials;
  3. carry out duties in relation to student and academic administration; and
  4. support and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

The appointee should possess:

  • a University degree and Master’s degree or equivalent in Chinese language and literature, teaching Chinese as a second language, linguistics, or another relevant field;
  • relevant teaching experience (normally 3 years’ post-qualification experience at tertiary level);
  • the ability to design and deliver new courses as well as to employ second language pedagogy.

What We Offer

The appointment will be made on a temporary hourly-paid basis for 1 year, to commence as soon as possible with the possibility of renewal subject to performance and funding availability.
