Applications are invited for appointment as Curator/Associate Curator (at the rank of Administrative Assistant I/II) in the University Museum and Art Gallery (UMAG) (Ref: 532083), to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to funding availability and satisfactory performance.
The Role
Reporting to the Director, the appointee will be responsible for the following duties:
- In charge of documentation, interpretation, and maintenance of the museum's permanent collection;
- Oversee part of the museum’s Chinese art collection;
- Contribute to educational programming;
- Ensure appropriate and accurate record-keeping procedures for the museum collections and operations; and
- Act as a spokesperson for the museum with the media, at functions, conferences and meetings when appropriate.

Qualifications and Qualities
- A Ph.D. in Art History, Archaeology or related fields, with an emphasis on Chinese history and culture;
- At least 5 years’ professional experience in museums;
- Working knowledge of curatorial practices;
- Ability to handle collection objects independently and exercise independent judgment; and
- Excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese
Those with less qualifications/experience may be appointed as Associate Curator. Shortlisted candidates will be notified of the application result.

The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary for Curator and 10% of basic salary for Associate Curator.
