Senior Technical Officer in the Department of Chemistry (Ref.: 532094) (to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance)
Applicants should possess a Ph.D. in Chemistry with at least 5 years of relevant experience in synthetic-based research laboratories. Applicants should have in-depth knowledge and extensive experience in handling air-sensitive/water-sensitive reactions and quenching chemicals in a synthetic laboratory. Knowledge of Dangerous Goods and Controlled Chemicals regulations would be advantageous. Experience in chemical tracking and logistics is an additional advantage. Applicants should have a good command of English and Chinese (including Putonghua). Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential for collaborating with diverse research staff and different research groups.
The appointee will be responsible for handling chemicals in a chemical store and contributing to the development of our chemical inventory database. He/She will also perform any other duties as assigned.
