Senior Manager (Community Engagement) (at the rank of Administrative Assistant II) in the HKU Techno-Entrepreneurship Core (Ref.: 532102) (to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary, with the possibility of renewal subject to funding availability and satisfactory performance)
Applicants should possess:
- A Bachelor’s degree or above, preferably in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) or other related disciplines, with a higher degree a plus;
- At least 8 years of work experience in at least one of these areas: start-up business, technology commercialisation, innovation management and/or start-up incubation programme;
- Proven experience in event management, community building and/or public communications will be an advantage;
- Excellent command of spoken and written English and Chinese (including Putonghua), with exceptional interpersonal skills;
- Ability to lead initiatives proactively, exercise sound independent judgement and strategic problem-solving skills;
- A strong interest in the latest scene of entrepreneurship, technology development and markets in Hong Kong and worldwide.
The appointee will primarily work for the HKU Techno-Entrepreneurship Core, the University’s innovation & entrepreneurship resource centre (www.tec.hku.hk), to support its existing entrepreneurship programmes as well as new initiatives. He/She will be responsible for strategic planning, designing, and implementing entrepreneurship initiatives/programmes; establishing and managing connections and partnerships with internal/external stakeholders, faculty members, students, graduates, start-ups, etc.; overseeing event management, public relations, and marketing, with control of resources, logistics arrangements, and deliverables; and performing other duties as assigned.
The appointee may be required to work outside normal office hours and/or travel occasionally. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend a written test and an interview.
