THE UNIVERSITY OF HONG KONG

 

The University of Hong Kong (HKU) has been collaborating with Shenzhen Government to develop the HKU-Shenzhen Hospital as a teaching hospital of HKU. With the presence of HKU, a new operation model for the Hospital has been introduced, aiming at providing high-quality services from primary to tertiary levels to patients in the region, whilst sustaining a teaching and training mission well supported by a robust research component. The Hospital has commenced operation since October 2012. As the Hospital is located in Shenzhen, the appointee will be based in Shenzhen. Accommodation/rental apartment in Shenzhen and weekly shuttle service between Hong Kong and Shenzhen will be provided.

We are looking for Consultant/Associate Consultant in the following specialties to be seconded to The University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen) Teaching Hospital Limited (THL) and assigned to work in the HKU-Shenzhen Hospital.

  • Gynecology
  • Pathology
  • Hepatobiliary & Pancreatic Surgery
  • Medical Imaging/Ultrasound
  • Paediatrics
  • Gastrointestinal Surgery
  • Clinical Oncology

 

The Role

The appointees are responsible for providing clinical services, supervising residents undergoing specialist training, and undertaking administrative work as assigned. They will provide expert medical consultation and treatment to patients in the respective specialty area, collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive patient care, participate in research and academic activities as required, and contribute to the continuous improvement of healthcare services and patient outcomes.

 

Qualifications and Qualities

Applicants should possess a medical degree registrable with the Medical Council of Hong Kong or relevant authority in Mainland China, a specialist qualification and experiences in the above specialties, experience working in a hospital setting, preferably providing tertiary care, and strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as fluency in English and Chinese (proficiency in Putonghua is an advantage). Applicants with a PhD degree and/or at professorial level in a university are preferred.

 

What We Offer

The appointment will be made on fixed-term full-time contract for 3 years, to commence as soon as possible with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance.  A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, together with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme at 15% of basic salary.  Other benefits include annual leave and medical benefits.
