Technical Manager I in the Project Division of the Estates Office (Ref.: 532155)

We are looking for a Technical Manager I to join the Estates Office.

The Role

The appointee will reside on the Pokfield Campus Development Project site, and be responsible for managing the construction works including foundation, deep excavation and lateral support, superstructure and civil works ensuring that the project will be delivered on time and within budget in a quality and safe manner.  He/She shall be experienced in both statutory requirements and workmanship of works so that he/she can manage the site supervision team to undertake necessary site supervision and review site documents in compliance with statutory requirements.  Experience in managing interfaced contracts will be an advantage.  He/She is also required to carry out other duties in relation to the civil engineering, geotechnical and structural works of the projects as specified by the Estates Office.  Enquires about the post should be sent to eojobs@hku.hk.

 

Qualifications and Qualities

Applicants should possess:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural/Geotechnical Engineering or equivalent disciplines;
  • Corporate membership of MHKIE (or equivalent) and Registered Professional Engineer qualification (Structural or Civil with relevant experience);
  • Over 5 years’ professional experience in the supervision and coordination of building construction projects;
  • Experience in site supervision of foundation, excavation and lateral support, superstructure works and site safety;
  • Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese;
  • Construction experience in ground anchors and tie back soil nails will be an advantage; and
  • BIM knowledge is considered as merit.

 

What We offer

The appointment will be made on fixed-term full-time contract for 2 years, to commence as soon as possible with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance.   A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offer, together with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme at 10% of basic salary.  Other benefits include annual leave and medical benefits.
