Applications are invited for appointment as Post-doctoral Fellow (PDF)/Senior Research Assistant (SRA) in the Swire Institute of Marine Science (SWIMS) (Ref.: 532247), to commence as soon as possible for one year, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance.

Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in marine ecology, molecular ecology and taxonomy, bivalve/shellfish biology, or other marine biology related disciplines.  They should have a demonstrated publication record of question-driven science in the field of marine biology, molecular ecology, biodiversity surveys, and/or ecosystem functioning research.   They should also possess a toolkit comprised of a solid foundation in field ecology and laboratory-based molecular techniques, as well as proven capacity to lead fieldwork expeditions. 

The appointee will lead a research project aiming to advance understanding of demographic dynamics (reproduction, age), ecological/genetic connectivity and populations/species diversity of marine bivalves in Hong Kong. The appointee will collaborate with local NGOs and other research groups conducting ecological surveys, genetic analyses and physiological experiments. The appointee will be based at the SWIRE Institute of Marine Sciences (SWIMS: http://www.swims.hku.hk), HKU. More information about the iBEER lab can be found at https://www.ibeerlab.com.  

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.  At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income.
