About the Urban Systems Institute
The Urban Systems Institute (USI) at the University of Hong Kong is dedicated to advancing the science of urban systems and the applications of urban systems research. It continues exploring new urban systems models through interdisciplinary approaches that can add new insights into significant questions about present and future urban problems and their solutions facilitated by the advances in data science, GIS methods, urban sensing and robotics.
Duties and Responsibilities
The appointee will be required to:
- deliver high-quality teaching in areas related to urban management, urban sustainability, ESG, and related fields;
- design and deliver course content, including lectures, workshops, case studies and assessment materials that integrate real-world scenarios; and
- support academic administration, including student advising, grading, and collaboration with faculty on curriculum development.
Qualifications and Requirements
The appointee should possess:
- a Master’s degree or higher in Urban Studies/Urban Planning/Urban Science or another relevant field;
- a minimum of 3 years’ post-qualification experience, including tertiary-level teaching and industry experience in related sectors;
- proven ability to design and deliver courses, as well as translate complex urban concepts into engaging lessons; and
- familiarity with management and governance of interrelated urban systems, such as land, transportation, energy and environment systems.
What We Offer
The appointment will be made on an hourly-paid basis for one semester, to commence as soon as possible with the possibility of renewal subject to performance and funding availability.
