Assistant Manager/Project Officer (at the rank of Executive Officer/ Clerk I) (several posts) in the HKU Techno-Entrepreneurship Core (Ref.: 532282) (to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis, with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary, with the possibility of renewal subject to funding availability and satisfactory performance)


Applicants should possess:

  • A Bachelor’s degree or above, preferably in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) or other related disciplines;
  • At least 3 years’ work experience in at least one of these areas: startup business, technology commercialisation, innovation management and/or startup incubation programme; candidates with more experience will be considered for the assistant manager position;
  • Experience in grant management;
  • An excellent command of spoken and written English and Chinese (including Putonghua);
  • Good interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skills;
  • Ability to work independently with initiative, exercise independent judgement and problem-solving skills;
  • A strong interest in the latest scene of entrepreneurship, technology development and markets in Hong Kong and worldwide.

 

The appointee will join the HKU Techno-Entrepreneurship Core, the University’s innovation & entrepreneurship resource centre (www.tec.hku.hk), to support its existing entrepreneurship programmes as well as new initiatives. He/She will be coordinating the government grant and/or startup support programmes, which includes promoting the programme, conducting reference checks, vetting applicants, managing the admission process, organizing orientation, and handling daily administrative tasks; maintaining good connection and partnership with faculty members, students, graduates, start-ups and stakeholders, etc.; assisting in event management, public relation and marketing, controlling of resources, logistic arrangement, and deliverables; and performing other duties as assigned. The appointee may be required to work outside normal office hours and/or travel occasionally. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend a written test and an interview.
