Library Assistant (Learning and Research Services) in the University Libraries (Ref.: 532359)
 
The University Libraries is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Library Assistant to join our Learning and Research Services team.
 
The Role
 
Reporting to the Associate Librarian (Learning and Research Services), the successful candidate will deliver services to library users across multiple platforms and assist with various functions aimed at enhancing research and learning experiences.
 
Key Responsibilities:
 
• Respond to inquiries related to library services, scholarly communication, and research support;
• Assist in managing researcher profiles in Scholars Hub, Scopus, and ORCID;
• Support the maintenance of research output records within the Research Information Management System;
• Contribute to bibliometric and research impact analysis services;
• Develop e-learning objects and research guides to support educational initiatives;
• Explore emerging tools for information literacy, including AI literacy;
• Clean, merge, and validate large datasets to ensure data accuracy and consistency;
• Create interactive and static data visualizations using tools such as Tableau, Power BI, R, Python, or equivalent;
• Produce instructional videos and infographics to facilitate user engagement;
• Conduct statistical and AI-assisted analyses to support research evaluation and reporting; and
• Perform other research-related tasks as assigned.
 
Qualifications and Skills
 
• A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline;
• Proficiency in written and spoken English and Chinese (Putonghua and Cantonese);
• Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI and Tableau;
• Hands-on experience with citation databases such as Scopus and Web of Science;
• Knowledge of statistical methods and data cleaning techniques;
• Familiarity with digital content creation tools such as Canva and Vyond;
• Strong communication skills and a customer-oriented mindset;
• Ability to work effectively in a dynamic team environment; and
• Eagerness to learn new skills and take on new challenges.
 
What we offer
 
The appointment will commence as soon as possible for one year on a temporary basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.
