Applications are invited for appointment as Research Assistant I in the Department of Family Medicine and Primary Care, School of Clinical Medicine (Ref.: 532368) to support an innovative project in medical education. (To commence as soon as possible for one year, with the possibility of renewal subject to funding availability and satisfactory performance)

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Research & Grant Writing
    • Conduct literature reviews on medical education best practices, healthcare ethics, chronic disease, and mental health
    • Support grant proposal development and manuscript writing for peer-reviewed publications
    • Draft ethics applications for research protocols (e.g., institutional review board submissions)
  • Methodology & Data Collection
    • Design and conduct qualitative interviews in Cantonese (analysis included) and quantitative surveys 
    • Analyze data using qualitative (e.g., thematic analysis) and quantitative methods (e.g., SPSS, Qualtrics)
  • Content Support
    • Develop research protocols 
    • Design curricula, educational modules, slide decks, and assessment rubrics
  • Project Coordination
    • Manage participant engagement, surveys, and assessments
    • Coordinate logistics for seminars, practicums, and cross-departmental research activities
  • Technical & Administrative Skills
    • Troubleshoot virtual/in-person teaching tools; use Microsoft Office, Canva, and research platforms (e.g., Qualtrics)

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., public health, education, social sciences)
  • Fluent in English (written/verbal) and Cantonese (spoken/written)
  • Strong research abilities (literature review, data collection/analysis, protocol development)
  • Excellent organizational skills; proven ability to manage deadlines and multitask
  • Critical thinking, adaptability, and independent work with minimal supervision
  • Technical Proficiency: Microsoft Office, basic IT troubleshooting, willingness to learn tools (e.g., SPSS, Canva)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in research, healthcare, education, or family medicine
  • Familiarity with qualitative/quantitative data analysis methods or ethics application processes
  • Knowledge of healthcare ethics, regulations, or survey tools (SPSS, Qualtrics)
