Applications are invited for appointment as Lecturer in the Wong How Man Centre for Exploration (Ref.: 532439), to commence as soon as possible for one year, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability.

Requirements

  • A good Master’s degree with at least 5 years’ relevant teaching experience at tertiary and professional level, or a combination of 5 years of teaching, research and/or professional experience, in relevant fields
  • Effective communication skills to deliver course content, coordinate activities and stakeholders
  • Demonstrated excellence in curriculum innovation
  • Good command of written and spoken Chinese (Cantonese & Putonghua) and English.

Preference will be given to applicants with one or more of the following supplementary qualifications:

  • Experience in leading research expeditions/field projects (to Mainland China, Asia Pacific & overseas)
  • Experience in expedition management (Developing, planning, risk management, and execution of team research expeditions
  • Experience in research and project management with universities and corporations
  • Experience in archive development and management

 

The Roles

  • Design and deliver undergraduate courses with a focus on the practical aspects of field-based, research-driven exploration
  • Develop and lead field courses/ field trips locally, regionally, and overseas.
  • Develop and coordinate research projects in relation to field trips.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to provide field-based research and learning activities to different stakeholders and enhance innovative learning experiences.
  • Engage in knowledge exchange and outreach events, connecting different stakeholders.
  • Provide support to archive digitalization in the University database
  • Perform other teaching and research-related duties as assigned by the Director.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income.
