Applications are invited for the position of Senior Lecturer (holding the functional title of Advanced Professional Trainer) in the Department of Social Work and Social Administration (Ref.:532499). The appointment will commence as soon as possible on a two-year or three-year fixed-term contract, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability. A highly competitive salary, commensurate with qualifications and experience, will be offered, along with annual leave and medical benefits. The appointment includes contract-end gratuity and a University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totaling up to 15% of the basic salary.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design, plan, and implement training programmes on End-of-Life Care (EoLC) for:
    • Healthcare and social care professionals
    • Family caregivers and volunteers
    • The general public
  • Provide coaching and capacity-building support in an EoLC project for NGOs in Hong Kong serving persons with disabilities.
    • Target trainees include NGO management, professionals, front-line staff, and volunteers.
  • Coordinate practice-based research and educational innovation related to EoLC.
  • Supervise the evaluation of the effectiveness of training and educational programmes.
  • Lead and keep abreast of update evidence-based training content on EoLC aligned with the project’s objectives.
  • Support other training and project-related activities as assigned.

 

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A Master’s degree or higher in Social Work, Public Health, Mental Health, Psychology, Behavioral Health, Counseling, Nursing, or a related discipline.
  • At least 5 years of solid experience in clinical practice and conducting professional training in EoLC and/or public education on related topics in Hong Kong.
  • Proven expertise in:
    • Palliative care
    • Family counseling
    • Therapeutic use of arts
    • Group facilitation
    • Bereavement care
  • Recognized authority in the psycho-social and communication aspects of EoLC.
  • Knowledge in e-learning design is an advantage.
  • Excellent command of written and spoken Chinese (Cantonese) and English.
