Applications are invited for appointment as IT Manager / IT Officer (Assistant IT Manager) in the Sau Po Centre on Ageing within the Faculty of Social Sciences (Ref.: 532675), to commence on Sep 1, 2025, or as soon as possible, on a up to 1.5-year temporary term basis with University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability. 

The Sau Po Centre on Ageing at HKU is dedicated to advancing research in the field of ageing and caregiving, aiming to become a leading research centre on gerontology in Greater China and the Asia Pacific region.  Our mission is to improve the quality of life for older adults through innovative research and community engagement.  We are committed to the enhancement of the well-being and quality of life of older adults and their caregivers through research, education, and knowledge exchange activities. We are looking for a highly dynamic and proactive IT professional who excels in project management, execution, and quality assurance, with a solid background on vender management.  Applicants should possess a Bachelor’s degree or above in Computer Science, Information Technology, or other related disciplines, at least 5 years’ relevant work experience in project management, leading and managing vendor for IT system development, enhancement and maintenance, and handling stakeholder engagement. Relevant experience in community projects is preferred. Knowledge of AI application (e.g. Integrated Development Environment) and data analysis is advantageous. Applicants should also be a good team leader with strong problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in English and Chinese (including Cantonese) is required.  Applicants with less experience may be considered for appointment as IT Officer.

The appointee will be responsible for leading, managing and deploying a mission-critical caregiver support IT system with our community partners to address the pressing needs of caregivers in our community. He/She is expected to:

  • communicate closely with end users to identify service processes, improvement opportunities and ensure the system or applications match with users’ requirements;
  • design and execute procurement strategy (such as preparation of tender documents, evaluation criteria);
  • manage the performance of external vendors;
  • prepare project progress reports, identify, and address project risk(s) to ensure projects are delivered on-track, on-time, and on-budget with proper documentation and quality;
  • support centre’s IT systems and platforms as assigned by centre director.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to a written test and attend an interview.
