Dispenser II in the Department of Pharmacology and Pharmacy (Ref.: 532753), to commence as soon as possible on a two-year fixed-term basis, with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme totalling up to 10% of basic salary, and with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance.
Applicants should possess a Diploma or above with a minimum of 4 years of relevant work experience in community pharmacy, hospital pharmacy, clinic, or healthcare setting; OR a Higher Diploma in Dispensing Studies or equivalent, preferably with at least 2 years of relevant work experience in community pharmacy, hospital pharmacy, clinic or healthcare setting. They should have a good command of written and spoken English and Chinese; good interpersonal, organizational and communication skills; patient-oriented, strong computer literacy, for example Microsoft Office Applications; willingness to learn, and a strong sense of responsibility.
The appointee will be working closely with pharmacists in the HKUMed Community Pharmacy and will be responsible for dispensing, inventory management and administrative duties of the pharmacy operation in various aspects, such as procurement, logistics, reporting, and documentation for legal compliance. Candidates with dispensing, administrative or procurement experience in the community pharmacy setting would be an advantage.
Responsibilities:
- Perform dispensing duties, including but not limited to screening and interpretation doctors’ prescriptions, generating drug labels, assembling and labelling, issuing and counselling medications to revisiting clients under pharmacist supervision.
- Handle face-to-face and phone enquiries on stock availability or medication prices and handover to pharmacists for further communication and follow-up.
- Assist pharmacists in procurement administrative duties, including liaising with pharmaceutical companies on stock ordering to maintain a reasonable stock level, receiving goods, filing, checking and uploading invoices to procurement systems.
- Work closely with pharmacists in managing the dispensing area and storage room, including but not limited to loading and unloading goods, refilling dispensing area stock under pharmacist supervision, stocktaking, and expiry date checking.
- Check pharmacy income reports and submit transactional reports for selected items to pharmaceutical companies at designated regular intervals.
- Maintain a high standard of record-keeping, ensuring completeness of legal documents and records.
- Support pharmacists in day-to-day administrative management, such as cashiering, data entry, replenishment of consumables, and maintaining a twice-daily log of pharmaceutical fridge.
- Manage and schedule appointments with patients, and coordinate them with meetings and events in the calendar
- Perform any other duties as assigned by pharmacists.
A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. 5-day work per week from 10:00 am to 6:45pm (1-hour lunch inclusive) and no shifts are required.
