Applications are invited for appointment as Research Officer/Assistant Research Officer in the Department of Microbiology, School of Clinical Medicine (Ref.: 532849), to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability.

Applicants should possess a PhD degree in Bioinformatics/Computational Biology, or a related discipline, with extensive research experience and a proven research track record on emerging infectious diseases/multi-omics analysis/drug design/AI-driven screens. They should have technical skills in bioinformatic research, including integrated analysis capabilities in genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, and metabolomics, and performing drug structure prediction and analysis, molecular docking, and virtual drug screening, as well as experience in applying deep learning and machine learning algorithms for pathogen identification, drug target prediction, antimicrobial drug discovery, and/or protein-protein interaction studies. They should also have good leadership and interpersonal skills. The appointee will be involved in research projects related to emerging infectious diseases.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical/dental benefits. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme at 10% of basic salary for Assistant Research Officer, and 15% for Research Officer.  Housing benefits will be provided to Research Officer as applicable.
