Applications are invited for appointment as Scientific Officer in the Department of Ophthalmology, School of Clinical Medicine (Ref.: 532972), to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability.

Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree preferably in Mechanical Engineering, Ophthalmology, or related disciplines, with at least 9 years' solid experience in clinical research.  Those with expertise in the development and design of virtual reality platform for the evaluation of visual disability would be preferred.  Applicants should also have good interpersonal and organizational skills, a strong sense of responsibility and self-motivation, an excellent command of written and spoken English, good interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to multi-task and work independently and collaboratively as a team.

The appointee will be involved in research projects related to the development of novel pharmacological treatments for ocular diseases and investigations in neuroregeneration and neuroprotection. 

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.  The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary.  Housing benefits will be provided as applicable.
