Post-doctoral Fellow in the Hong Kong Jockey Club Global Health Institute, School of Public Health (Ref.: 533119), to commence as soon as possible, on a one-year temporary term contract, with the possibility of renewal subject to funding availability and satisfactory performance.
Applicants should possess a PhD degree in biological sciences or related fields, with expertise in bioinformatics and biostatistics, and a proven research track record on analysing viral evolution and transmission dynamics using large datasets. Strong working knowledge of Python and R programming language is essential. The applicants should have a good command of spoken and written English and strong communication skills; be organized, attentive to details, responsible, self-motivated, and be able to work independently as well as in a team.
The appointee will be responsible for collaborative projects to identify critical genotypic determinants for antigenicity, including epitopes for cross-reactive immunity and forecasting of antigenic variants, with the goal to improve vaccine development for influenza and other respiratory diseases.
