Reporting to Senior Production Coordinator, the appointee will be responsible for adhering to the superior design and publication standards of Hong Kong University Press.
Key Responsibilities:
- Typeset academic books using supplied templates
- Purchase freelance design services, paper, printing and binding from local vendors for print books
- Provide accurate instructions and coordinate file delivery with external vendors
- Coordinate book schedules and budgets for all projects with production manager
- Adhere to approved budgets for all books
- Prepare files for delivery to multiple print and electronic vendors according to published requirements
- Perform any other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or associate degree in related field or equivalent work experience
- Fluent written English required
- Fluent spoken English and Cantonese strongly preferred
- 1–2 years’ experience with print and/or digital publishing (previous experience in electronic publishing is strongly preferred)
- Able to work as part of a collaborative team to meet deadlines
- Self-motivated, creative problem-solver with superior attention to detail
- Knowledge of offset printing required
- Intermediate- to expert-level user of Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Acrobat)
- Intermediate-level user of Microsoft Office (Word and Excel)
- HTML and CSS experience required
- XML knowledge highly desirable
Those with lower qualifications and/or less experience may be considered for appointment as Clerk II.
