Post-doctoral Fellow in the Department of Statistics and Actuarial Science, School of Computing and Data Science (Ref.: 533742) 

Applications are invited for appointment as Post-doctoral Fellow in the Department of Statistics and Actuarial Science, School of Computing and Data Science, to commence from 1 July 2026, or as soon as possible, on a 1.5-year term, with possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability.

Applicants should hold a Ph.D. degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Mathematical Finance, Quantitative Risk Management, or a related field. Candidates must possess relevant research experience in probability, stochastic analysis, and optimization. Applicants with knowledge in machine learning, as well as a track record of publications in top Actuarial Science, Mathematical Finance, or Operations Research journals are preferred.

The appointee will conduct research in Professor Alfred Chong’s group. Potential topics include, but are not limited to, holistic risk management strategies, forward preferences, reinforcement learning, as well as centralized and de-centralized risk sharing. A highly competitive salary, commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.
