Research Assistant I in the Department of Pathology, School of Clinical Medicine (Ref.: 533768)

The Department of Pathology, School of Clinical Medicine, is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Research Assistant I to provide comprehensive laboratory support for our breast cancer research program. This position offers an excellent opportunity for someone with strong organizational skills to contribute to both translational cancer research and the day-to-day operational excellence of our research laboratory. To commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Participate in basic and translational research projects related to breast cancer, including experimental design and execution;
  • Conduct data analysis and maintain research databases with accuracy and attention to detail;
  • Oversee daily laboratory operations, including maintenance of safe working conditions and adherence to institutional safety protocols and regulations;
  • Manage laboratory inventory, including tracking of consumables, reagents, and equipment; prepare and maintain purchasing records;
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's degree or above in Biological Sciences, Medical Sciences, or a closely related discipline, preferably with relevant experience in a laboratory medicine-related field.
  • Detail-minded
  • Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work collaboratively within a team;
  • Demonstrated responsibility, reliability, and commitment to safety standards;
  • Competence in data management and statistical analysis (experience with SPSS, R/Python/vibe coding or similar software is advantageous);
  • Proficiency in laboratory techniques (immunohistochemistry, flow cytometry, or related methods) would be advantageous.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered. The appointment on fixed terms will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme at 10% of basic salary. Other benefits include annual leave, medical benefits and free access to on-campus gyms and libraries.
