Applications are invited for appointment as Clerk II in the HKU Kadoorie Centre (Ref.: 534054), to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance.
The HKU Kadoorie Centre
Founded in the mid-1980s through the visionary philanthropy of Sir Horace Kadoorie and Lord Lawrence Kadoorie, the HKU Kadoorie Centre is situated near Shek Kong in Hong Kong’s New Territories. The Centre takes a cross-disciplinary approach to address urgent challenges in agriculture, energy systems, water resources, nature conservation, and more. By integrating scientific knowledge at both regional and global levels, the Centre drives technological innovation for sustainability. In addition to supporting scholars and students from the University, the Centre places a strong emphasis on collaborative innovation with local and international academic communities, advancing interdisciplinary solutions to complex global challenges.
The Role
The appointee will provide all aspects of clerical support for the daily operation of the Centre, supporting general office operations, contributing to ad-hoc departmental events, and perform any other duties as assigned by the senior. He/She will work on-site at the Centre located at Shek Kong and may be required to work outside normal office hours and on weekends and holidays. Qualifications and Qualities
- Applicants should have 5 passes in HKCEE, including English (min. Grade C if Syllabus A/Level 2 from 2007), Chinese (Level 2 from 2007) and Mathematics; OR min. Level 2 or equivalent in 5 subjects in HKDSEE including English Language, Chinese Language and Mathematics
- At least 1 year’s work experience, preferably in the tertiary education sector;
- Good command of written and spoken English, Chinese, and fluency in Putonghua would be an advantage;
- IT proficiency skills including MS Word, MS Excel and knowledge of website maintenance;
- A strong team player who collaborates confidently with people at all levels;
- Self-motivation with good organizational and interpersonal skills;
- Attention to details; and
- Ability to work independently and under pressure to meet tight deadlines and to prioritize multiple tasks efficiently.
