Research Assistant I/II (several posts) in the Division of Public Health Laboratory Sciences of the School of Public Health (Ref.: 534261) (to commence as soon as possible on a one-year temporary term contract, with the possibility of renewal subject to funding availability and satisfactory performance)

Applicants should possess a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Automation, or a related field. A minimum of two years of relevant industry experience is required. Applicants should demonstrate hands-on experience in embedded programming (C/C++) for microcontrollers. Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks) and PCB design tools (e.g., Altium, KiCad) is essential. Familiarity with automation tools (e.g., LabVIEW, PLC) and version control systems (e.g., Git) is also necessary. Applicants should be able to showcase experience in prototyping, debugging, and testing integrated hardware systems. Excellent problem-solving skills, teamwork, and communication abilities are critical, along with fluency in both English and Chinese. Those with less experience and/or lower qualifications may be considered as Research Assistant II.

The appointees will contribute to the design and prototyping of mechanical components for portable automated devices. They will be responsible for developing and integrating electronic circuits, camera modules, various sensors, and embedded control systems. They will also be responsible for relevant modeling, simulation, and troubleshooting. They will collaborate with software teams, ecology specialists, and biomedical experts to optimize device performance, as well as support manufacturing and scalability initiatives.
