Applications are invited for appointment as Research Assistant I/II (several posts) in the HKU-Pasteur Research Pole of the School of Public Health (Ref.: 534281), to commence as soon as possible on a one-year temporary term contract, with the possibility of renewal subject to funding availability and satisfactory performance.

Applicants should possess a Bachelor’s degree or higher in microbiology, biomedical science, nursing, or a related discipline. Experience in participant-facing work (e.g., recruiting participants, obtaining consent, or coordinating on-site sampling) is highly desirable. Prior experience in microbiology, molecular biology, or human specimen handling (e.g., swabs/stool samples) will be an advantage. Applicants should have strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work respectfully with elderly participants and facility staff. They should be responsible, self-motivated, and capable of working independently as well as collaboratively within a team. Strong communication skills in Cantonese are essential.

The appointees will be responsible for conducting skin and stool sampling in elderly nursing homes, and for microbiome isolation/culture work based on the collected samples. They will manage and maintain daily laboratory operations, conduct experiments, and perform other tasks as assigned.
