Technical Officer in the Department of Data and Systems Engineering (Ref.: 534402) (to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefit scheme, totaling up to 10% of basic salary, with the possibility of renewal)
Applicants should possess a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or related disciplines, with relevant post-degree work experience and/or postgraduate research experience. They should also have a good command of written and spoken English and Chinese; good interpersonal and communication skills; be self-motivated, highly organized and a good team leader. Applicants should demonstrate strong hands-on skills in network administration, server maintenance, and hardware/software troubleshooting, along with a foundational understanding of cybersecurity. Additional expertise in embedded systems, digital twins, or cyber-physical systems is highly desirable. Experience with industrial technologies such as 3D printing, robotics, ERP/WMS systems, IoT, and mobile/web applications would also be considered an advantage.
The appointee will be responsible for the management and maintenance of the Department’s IT infrastructure, providing technical support for computing facilities while assisting in laboratory development and research activities, as well as the development and delivery of capstone and experiential learning courses at Bachelor of Engineering programme. He/She will also be expected to coordinate the maintenance work of laboratories, set up facilities in new laboratories, and perform other duties as assigned.
