Senior Research Assistant in the HKU-Pasteur Research Pole of the School of Public Health (Ref.: 534423) (to commence as soon as possible on a one-year temporary term or two-year fixed-term contract, with the possibility of renewal subject to funding availability and satisfactory performance).
Applicants should possess a Master’s degree or above in biomedical sciences, life sciences, or related disciplines, with at least 5 years of relevant laboratory experience in infectious disease research. They should demonstrate strong expertise in virology, molecular biology and protein production. Experience in immunological or serological testing is desired. Preference will be given to those with experience working with influenza or other BSL2 viruses. They should also demonstrate an excellent work ethic, a professional temperament, strong organisational and problem-solving skills, the ability to work independently, and a good command of written and spoken English. Experience in budgeting, procurement, and regulatory compliance will be an advantage.
The appointee will work under the supervision of Professor Sook-San Wong to manage and maintain the daily operations of the laboratory. He/She will oversee, coordinate, and support research projects, including protein production and immunological testing. He/She will also supervise junior staff and students, liaise with collaborators, and perform other duties as assigned.
