Part-time Research Assistant I/II in the Faculty of Business and Economics (Ref. 534735) ((to commence as soon as possible for 6 months, with possibility of renewal)

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related field
  • Strong proficiency in Python and Django backend development
  • Experience with Django REST Framework and relational databases (MySQL or PostgreSQL)
  • Hands-on experience deploying applications on AWS and/or Alibaba Cloud
  • Familiarity with Cloudflare, CI/CD pipelines, and/or server operations
  • Proficiency in Linux system administration and operations
  • Understanding of asynchronous task processing using Celery + Redis
  • Experience with Docker for containerized deployment
  • Familiarity with Nginx and Gunicorn configuration

Preferred / Bonus Qualifications

  • Full-stack development experience
  • Automated testing (unit/integration)
  • DevOps practices and/or server monitoring
  • Experience integrating OpenAI APIs or similar LLMs
  • Knowledge of Django Channels (WebSockets)
  • Email service integration (e.g., SendGrid)
  • Internationalization (i18n) and localization development
  • Writing technical documentation (e.g., READMEs, API docs)
  • Prior collaboration with frontend engineers

Candidates with relevant internship experience, prior research assistant roles, or substantial personal/academic projects are strongly preferred.
