Administrative Assistant II (holding the functional title of Manager (Business Partnership and Development))
The Faculty of Social Sciences is seeking a high-calibre and proactive professional to join as Manager (Business Partnership and Development) in the Faculty of Social Sciences (Ref. 534912), to commence as soon as possible on a two-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree (preferably with a Master’s) in business, marketing, social sciences or a related field, with at least 8 years of experience in business development, partnership building, employer engagement, corporate relations, fundraising, innovation and entrepreneurship, or related areas, preferably in an academic, research, or institutional setting.
- Proven track record of securing external partnerships, sponsorships, or funding in sectors relevant to the Faculty’s focus.
- Demonstrated success in developing external partnerships, excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, strong strategic and project management abilities.
- Professional experience in higher education and donor engagement would be an advantage.
- Excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese. Additional language, Mandarin, may be required.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and drive initiatives to completion, and to have a strong sense of initiative, professionalism, and commitment to achieving the Faculty’s goals.
Duties and responsibilities
The appointee will play a key role in strengthening the Faculty’s external engagement and strategic partnerships, with a particular focus on industry collaboration, employer engagement, and fundraising. He/She will work closely with the Dean, Faculty leadership, academic departments, and other central offices of the University to support the Faculty’s strategic development in the following areas:
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with industry, professional, community, public sector, and other external partners relevant to the Faculty’s disciplines;
- Proactively engage with companies, NGOs, government bodies, and industry stakeholders to create collaborative opportunities aligned with the Faculty’s goals;
- Identify, build, and sustain partnerships and funding opportunities, including giving, sponsorship, and fundraising, to support teaching, learning, research, and knowledge exchange initiatives;
- Analyse industry trends to identify collaboration opportunities, work closely with academic staff to facilitate industry-funded projects, joint ventures, and knowledge-transfer initiatives;
- Strengthen engagement with employers to enhance student career support, including graduate employment pathways, mentoring, networking, experiential learning and internships opportunities;
- Contribute strategically to initiatives that enhance the Faculty’s and University’s standing in relation to graduate employability and employer reputation;
- Organise and support external engagement activities, including meetings, forums, networking events, employer engagement programmes, and partnership development initiatives; and
- Perform other duties as assigned.
