Research Assistant I/II (several posts) in the Division of Public Health Laboratory Sciences of the School of Public Health (Ref.: 536132) (to commence as soon as possible on a one-year temporary term contract, with the possibility of renewal subject to funding availability and satisfactory performance)
Applicants should possess a Bachelor’s degree or above in Microbiology, Biology, Molecular Ecology, or a related discipline. Relevant wet laboratory experience is preferred, while dry laboratory experience is welcomed. Familiarity with environmental DNA (eDNA), next generation sequencing (NGS) and culture-based microbiology techniques are desirable. Applicants should be responsible, self-motivated and capable of working independently as well as collaboratively within a team. Strong written and verbal communication skills and careful record-keeping are essential. Proficiency in both English and Chinese would be an advantage.
The appointees will assist in projects related to high throughput sequencing and microbial genomics. The appointees will have the opportunity to work on and manage a diverse range of samples, as well as contribute to the development of ongoing projects.
