Library Assistant (Learning and Research Services) in the University Libraries (Ref.: 536251)
 
The University Libraries is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Library Assistant to join our Learning and Research Services team.
 
The Role
 
Reporting to the Associate Librarian (Learning and Research Services), the appointee will provide support for a wide range of library services across multiple platforms, with a focus on scholarly communication, research support, researcher profile management, research data services, and learning support initiatives. The appointee will also assist in data-related tasks and the development of digital learning materials to enhance users’ research and learning experiences.
 
Key Responsibilities:
 
The appointee will be responsible for:
 
• Respond to inquiries regarding library services, scholarly communication, and research support;
 
• Manage researcher profiles (e.g., Scholars Hub, Scopus, ORCID) and maintain research records in RIMS;
 
• Provide support for research data services;
 
• Assist bibliometrics and research impact services;
 
• Support information literacy programs and training initiatives;
 
• Contribute to subject-specific services, such as reading list development and collection management;
 
• Develop e-learning materials, research guides, and digital content such as videos and infographics; and
 
• Perform other duties as assigned, such as information services and subject services.
 
Qualifications and Skills
 
Applicants should possess:
 
• A bachelor’s degree in Library and Information Management, Computer Science, Data Science, Information Science, or a related discipline;
 
• Proficiency in written and spoken English and Chinese, including Putonghua and Cantonese;
 
• Hands-on experience with citation databases such as Scopus and Web of Science is preferable;
 
• Knowledge of statistical methods, data processing techniques, and data quality assurance practices;
 
• Familiarity with digital content creation tools such as Canva, Vyond, or similar platforms;
 
• A strong interest in learning and applying new technologies, AI tools, and digital methods;
 
• Good organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills;
 
• The ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment; and
 
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
 
What we offer
 
The appointment will commence as soon as possible for one year on a temporary basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.
