Student Advising Officer (at the rank of Executive Officer) in the Careers and Employability of the Centre of Development and Resources for Students (CEDARS) (Ref.: 537449) (to commence as soon as possible on a two-year fixed-term basis with contract end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefit scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary).
We are seeking a motivated and resourceful professional to spearhead the expansion of HKU’s employer network in the Greater Bay Area (GBA) and drive targeted career engagement initiatives that connect students with job opportunities in this rapidly growing economic region. The role is ideal for a proactive individual who is passionate about employer relations, partnership building, and event management in the Chinese Mainland.
The appointee will be responsible for the below duties:
- Develop GBA employer network by establishing and maintaining long-term partnerships with key employer partners in the region, spanning a wide range of industries and sectors.
- Plan and organise a series of GBA-specific career events throughout the year, including company tours, career talks, industry seminars, experience sharing sessions, networking events, training workshops, job fairs, and on-site interviews.
- Coordinate and manage all event logistics such as venue booking, transportation arrangements, event equipment, and publicity.
- Conduct regular engagement meetings with employers to gather market intelligence, share insights on student capabilities, and identify collaboration opportunities that align with employers’ recruitment cycles and hiring needs.
- Drive student participation across all career events, equipping them with up-to-date information on industry developments, job opportunities, recruitment processes, workplace culture, and living conditions in the GBA.
- Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders to ensure the GBA initiatives complement broader career development strategies and institutional goals.
- Monitor and report on key performance indicators to demonstrate programme impact and support continuous improvement.
Applicants should possess:
- A recognised university degree with at least five years of relevant work experience in employer relations, business development, career services, or talent acquisition, preferably with exposure to the GBA or Chinese Mainland market.
- Proven experience in building and maintaining corporate relationships, ideally with companies or organisations in the Chinese Mainland.
- Strong project management and event coordination skills, with a track record of delivering programmes or events from end to end.
- A proactive, self-motivated, and detail-oriented mindset, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Sound understanding of the GBA economic landscape, industry developments, and graduate employment trends in the region.
- An excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese (Cantonese and Putonghua are essential).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications; experience with CRM systems or stakeholder management tools is an advantage.
- Willingness to travel frequently.
