The Position

We now invite applications for appointment as Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in the area of Biomedical Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI). The successful candidate will have a chance to work with an interdisciplinary team to advance ultra-low-field MRI technologies and facilitate their translation into cutting-edge healthcare applications.

Requirements

We seek a candidate with advanced training in the physical, engineering, and computational foundations of MRI, with a strong focus on deep tech and impact. Applicants must possess a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Physics, or a related discipline, alongside a strong track record of high-impact publications.

Candidates must demonstrate deep technical expertise in one of the following core domains:

(1) MRI Physics & Hardware Design: Experience in magnet configurations, RF/gradient coil engineering, pulse sequence programming, and shielding-free system architectures.

(2) Computational Imaging & AI: Deep learning and data-driven image formation to tackle the grand SNR and resolution challenges in ultra-low-field MRI.

(3) Translational Research: Developing paradigm-shifting applications for ultra-low-field MRI, such as point-of-care imaging and population health monitoring.

Duties and Responsibilities

The appointee will be expected to:

  • Conduct independent research;
  • Develop and secure competitive external research funding;
  • Supervise postgraduate students;
  • Teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses;
  • Contribute to curriculum development and academic administration;
  • Engage in interdisciplinary collaborations.

What We Offer

The appointment will be made on fixed-term full-time contract for 3 years initially, to commence as soon as possible thereafter, with the possibility of renewal and consideration for tenure before the expiry of a second three-year fixed-term contract, subject to satisfactory performance.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, together with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme at 15% of basic salary. Other benefits include annual leave, medical benefits, and free access to on-campus gyms and libraries. Housing benefits will be provided as applicable.
