Early Years Coach - Western Melbourne Area

We're seeking an enthusiastic Early Years Coach to join our dedicated Programs and Innovation Team. This role involves working on an exciting Pilot Project, delivering the primary service provider (PSP) approach to children with developmental concerns who may not be eligible for NDIS funding.

  • Location: Western Melbourne Area - Based at the BSL NDIS Wyndham Office (Werribee, VIC 3011).
  • Salary: A competitive remuneration package ranging from $76,195.24 - $81,702.37 per annum + 11.5% superannuation.
  • Type of Employment: Maximum Term Contract (12 months), full-time (38-40 hours per week).

This is a 12-month demonstration pilot aiming to provide timely and effective assistance to families and builds on the BSL Disability Services Early Supports offer to demonstrate what supports could influence the developmental trajectory of young children with developmental concerns.

ABOUT THE PROGRAMS AND INNOVATION TEAM

The Programs and Innovation Team drives new opportunities to enhance outcomes for people with disability and continuously improve disability services. Our work focuses on creating inclusive and accessible communities, expanding capacity-building opportunities, and advocating for systems that align with what matters most to people with disability.

ABOUT YOUR NEW ROLE

As an Early Years Coach, you will be a key part of managing and delivering the Disability Programs and Innovation Primary Service Provider pilot. You will form part of a small team delivering community-based family centred services under the supervision of trained and qualified Early Childhood Specialists in line with the NDIS Early Childhood approach.

As an Early Years Coach, you will work closely with family members and/or caregivers of children aged between 0-5 who have been identified as having developmental differences. You will work with family members/caregivers to identify goals that will support the development of the child, and to build the confidence and capacity and caregivers in supporting their child.

As an Early Years Coach, you will will have experience in early childhood development and disability. Within the role, you will be trained in the use of a coaching and capacity building model, which you will will use to support parents/caregivers.

As part of your new role, you will undertake the following under the supervision and direction of the Senior Early Years Coach and consultant allied health staff:

  • Develop priority, functional, participation-based goals with caregivers using agreed methodology. 
  • In partnership with families, caregivers, develop individualised plans that accurately record their priorities and needs.
  • Assist in the implementation of programs that increase inclusion and participation of the child in family and/or community life.
  • Following agreed processes, and in partnership with the caregiver, develop a program of participation based coaching sessions.
  • Provide information to families that reflects their needs and links them into appropriate Universal and Specialist Services to meet their child’s developmental needs.
  • Ensure contractual, pilot project and organisational requirements are met.
  • Accurately record and evaluate the services delivered, ensuring the viability and success of the Pilot Program.

As this role is community-focused, the Pilot will be conducted across the Western Melbourne (WMA) region and travel within this region is an expectation of this role. This pilot will be delivered in natural, community settings including family homes, kindergartens, day care centres, etc. It is not an expectation that sessions will be delivered from BSL Disability Services office locations.

ABOUT YOU

We are seeking applicants who have: 

  • Certificate IV or above in a relevant area (early childhood; community services; disability services; allied health; education support or equivalent) and/or extensive relevant experience in supporting families with children with developmental differences.
  • An understanding of developmental differences in early childhood.
  • An understanding of and commitment to the social model of disability.
  • Knowledge of support services available to support families and children and referral pathways/entry criteria.
