About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a part-time Junior Legal Assistant to provide secretarial and administrative support to the wider Health and Insurance Litigation & Regulatory team in our Perth office.
This high-performing team works on a wide variety of matters in the professional indemnity, medical negligence, and health law space. You will be supported in your development, and will have the opportunity to gain experience working alongside and learning from our legal support professionals.
You’ll join a close-knit and supportive team known for its collaborative approach, strong technical capability and commitment to excellence.
Key duties and responsibilities
This varied legal assistant role includes (but is not limited to) the following tasks:
- Assisting fee earners with good practice hygiene including:
- Preparing WIP and pre-bills in a timely manner
- Working closely with the Finance Team to assist with monthly billing and debtor management
- Managing monthly billing cycles, using Aderant Expert software
- Client service focus, liaising with both external and internal stakeholders
- Opening new matters and conducting conflict check searches
- Maintaining electronic filing to ensure all files are up to date
- Liaising with the Courts as necessary, including filing of documents
- Drafting and amending legal correspondence and documents
- Preparing briefs
- Assisting with monthly reporting processes
- Assisting with overflow of tasks
About you
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Previous experience in an administrative or legal support role
- Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and work to deadlines with confidence
- Strong attention to detail and a proactive, can-do approach to your work
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- A strong client service focus and the ability to build positive relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
- A high level of professionalism, discretion and integrity, with the ability to maintain confidentiality at all times
- A collaborative mindset and genuine willingness to support others and contribute positively to the team
- Strong typing and document management skills
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills
