Mō te Mātou | About the Role:

Reporting to the National Transport Manager, you will oversee daily operations across our fleet, ensuring top-tier safety, efficiency, and customer satisfaction, while managing a team of operations staff, drivers, and subcontractors, across the South Island.

Main Responsibilities:

• Manage Business Operations & Financial Performance: Take charge of the P&L for the South Island operations. Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), develop cost-reduction strategies, and optimize truck and driver utilization to ensure profitable operations.
• Customer Relations & Service Excellence: Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, ensuring all service requirements are met. Respond promptly to customer needs and work to exceed expectations with every delivery.
• Lead, Develop, and Motivate Teams: Manage a team of operational staff, drivers, and subcontractors. Foster a culture of respect, teamwork, and continuous improvement. Promote employee development through training and performance reviews.
• Fleet & Asset Management: Oversee the maintenance and service schedules for the fleet, ensuring all vehicles and equipment are fully operational. Maintain an organized, efficient fleet management system.
• Environmental and Compliance Management: Ensure all operations comply with environmental regulations and safety standards. Drive sustainability initiatives, reducing waste and energy consumption where possible.

He Kōrero Mōu | About You:

To be successful in this role you will have extensive experience in Transport Operations, preferably have a diploma in Logistics or Business, and you will need to have a clean, class 1 NZ driver licence. You will have the ability to lead teams and influence stakeholders, ensuring alignment with company objectives and safety standards.

Main Skills and Experience:

• TMS & SAP Experience: Proficient in Transport Management Systems (TMS), sign-on glass (SOG), and SAP warehousing systems.
• Financial Acumen: Strong understanding of financial planning, reporting, and P&L management.
• Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop teams in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
• Customer Service: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a customer-first approach.
• Transport Knowledge: In-depth understanding of NZ transport laws, regulations, and industry best practices.
