About the role

The Senior Officer, Admissions supports the University’s admission and RPL processes including the assessment of course applications and Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). This position, supports customer enquiries, providing accurate and timely information and other related administrative tasks contributing to the overall admissions processes of Deakin.

Attention to detail and accuracy and the ability to build relationships with a diverse range of potential students and stakeholders is critical for this role.

As a Senior Officer, Admissions, you will:

  • Investigate and probe for the facts and identify relevant course entry options and select the most appropriate from the range of requirements or alternatives
  • Assess course and RPL applications against relevant entry requirements as determined with key stakeholders and complying with university policies and procedures
  • Provide accurate advice to prospective students on the course and RPL applications process and practice.
  • Build rapport with people outside of immediate team in ways that are respectful and inclusive of others
  • Prioritise work and critical activities, evaluate progress, recognise barriers to achieving outcomes and find effective ways to deal with them.

To be successful, you’ll have:

  • A Degree with subsequent relevant experience; or
  • Extensive experience and specialist knowledge or broad knowledge in technical or administrative fields; or
  • An equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
  • Knowledge of course, admissions and RPL practice and process in an education environment
