About the role:
Provide outstanding coordination, advice, support, and services to the Centre for Future Defence and National Security (CFDNS) and a range of university stakeholders to enable the delivery of University and Centre outcomes.
This position is also responsible for the delivery of high quality, client-focused, efficient and effective student advice and administration services to current and prospective students of the CFDNS. The position will assess applications for admission to the courses and provide enrolment support and administration activities related to all aspects of the student lifecycle after admission into courses. The position will contribute to the documentation and updating of admission, selection, enrolment and RPL, focusing on continuous improvement for the Centre’s processes. It provides an escalation point for Student Central and Faculty Specialist Support staff and provides resolutions to complex student enquiries.
As a Senior Administrative Officer, you will:
- Identify, lead, and actively promote change within your own area of responsibility and understand and communicate reasons for the change.
- Draw on a diverse group of people, groups, and resources to identify new or improved opportunities, processes, and ways of doing things to enhance organisational strategy.
- Investigate and probe for the facts, identify relevant solutions, and select the most appropriate from the range of alternatives.
- Plan and prioritise work and critical activities appropriately and recognise barriers to achieving outcomes, find effective ways to deal with them and evaluate progress.
- Actively seek feedback from colleagues and stakeholders on things that are working well and areas for improvement.
- Develop and implement practical, accessible solutions based on stakeholder needs.
- Communicate with confidence using examples and the most appropriate influencing technique for a given situation to increase understanding and support.
To be successful, you’ll have:
- A degree with subsequent relevant experience; or
- Extensive experience and relevant knowledge or broad knowledge in technical or administrative fields.
Special Requirements
- Occasional travel to the Centre in Canberra may be required.
