Overview 

The Senior Officer, IT Support contributes to the seamless delivery of IT system and applications support to staff and students. This role is responsible for delivering a proactive and personalised customer experience by undertaking day-to-day support activities, resolving technical issues, maintaining functionality of digital tools and systems, and ensuring teaching and research spaces have the necessary specialised IT requirements.  

The Senior Officer, IT Support will collaborate with the IT support team to address technical concerns, maintain operational efficiency, and contribute to aligning IT services with the goals of the Customer Experience Division and the University. The role also includes providing hands-on assistance to users, ensuring that technical issues are addressed promptly and efficiently. 

 

As a Senior Officer, you will

 

  • Provide systems and applications advice and support to customers, including assisting staff, postgraduate and undergraduate students in the use of computing equipment and computing and research laboratories.  

  • Identify and suggest practical, efficient solutions to IT issues. Regularly assess current processes and systems, considering multiple perspectives to improve service delivery. Adopt new technologies and approaches to enhance the quality of service provided.  

  • Collaborate with staff and students to develop IT solutions for teaching and research problems.  

  • Ensure that specialised IT equipment in laboratories and other spaces is maintained effectively.  

  • Develop and maintain documentation and training relating to relevant IT equipment, processes and procedures.  

 

To be successful, you’ll have:  

  • An equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.  

  • Experience installing, configuring, securing and maintaining desktop and Server operating systems.  

  • Experience diagnosing hardware and software faults and replacing IT equipment subsystems.  

  • Experience managing and maintaining computer software and technological devices.  

  • Experience providing services and support in a large complex organisation.  

  • Knowledge of electrical safety and occupational health and safety related issues.
